Home / Education Support

Education is a powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty and fostering long-term development.
At Young Africans for Peace and Development (YAPAD), we recognize that access to quality education remains a major challenge in pastoral and marginalized regions across the Horn of Africa.

In many of these areas, years of historical marginalization, limited investment, and insecurity have left education systems struggling. The sector faces numerous challenges including:

  • Understaffing and low teacher-to-student ratios

  • Poor enrollment and high dropout rates

  • Inadequate learning materials and infrastructure (classrooms, offices, toilets, and water facilities)

  • High levels of illiteracy, particularly among women and pastoral communities

Our Commitment

We believe that education, especially for the girl child, is a catalyst for transformation, resilience, and social progress.
Our education programs focus on empowering communities through learning, innovation, and skills development that promote both personal and community growth.

We aim to:

  • Support community education initiatives through empowerment, ICT, and innovation programs

  • Enhance vocational training (TVET) to build practical skills and employability among youth and women

  • Train teachers and adult learners to reduce illiteracy and nurture community change agents

  • Conduct civic education and advocacy to help pastoral communities value education and participate in decisions that shape their social and economic lives

Our Vision for Learning

YAPAD envisions a future where every child, regardless of background or location, has access to quality education and lifelong learning opportunities.
By investing in education, we aim to build resilient, informed, and empowered communities capable of shaping their own destiny.
