WASH, Health & Nutrition

Home / WASH, Health & Nutrition

Access to clean water, proper sanitation, and good hygiene is fundamental to community well-being and sustainable development.
At Young Africans for Peace and Development (YAPAD), our WASH, Health & Nutrition program focuses on improving public health, promoting hygiene awareness, and supporting the most vulnerabl, especially women and children, to live healthier, more dignified lives.

Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH)

Our WASH initiatives aim to ensure that every household and community has access to safe drinking water, improved sanitation, and sustainable hygiene practices.
Through collaboration with communities and partners, YAPAD works to:

  • Provide clean and safe water sources through water trucking, boreholes, and roof catchment systems

  • Construct and rehabilitate sanitation facilities, including latrines and handwashing stations

  • Conduct hygiene promotion campaigns to encourage proper sanitation habits

  • Reduce waterborne diseases and improve community health outcomes

By investing in water infrastructure, education, and community engagement, we create environments where children can attend school regularly, and adults can work productively and live with dignity.

Health & Nutrition

YAPAD’s health and nutrition interventions are dedicated to improving maternal, newborn, and child health in vulnerable communities.
Our programs include:

  • Maternal and child healthcare services, including prenatal and postnatal care

  • Childhood immunization programs and vaccination campaigns against preventable diseases

  • Nutritional support, including Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) and supplement distribution

  • Community health education to promote proper nutrition and healthy practices among families

These initiatives help reduce malnutrition, prevent disease outbreaks, and improve survival and growth rates among children and mothers.

Our Impact

By integrating WASH, health, and nutrition programs, YAPAD strengthens community resilience and quality of life.
Access to clean water, proper sanitation, and nutrition not only improves health but also lays the foundation for education, productivity, and equitable development across the Horn of Africa.
